Travel

We are so excited to welcome you to London and are incredibly grateful to those of you travelling from abroad to celebrate with us. We hope this page helps make your journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Entry Requirements (Important)

All guests travelling to the UK will need to apply for a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before their trip.

  • The ETA is required for short visits
  • It must be approved before departure
  • Applications are completed online and are typically quick to process
  • We recommend applying at least a few weeks in advance of travel

We recommend checking the latest requirements based on your passport before travelling.

Please ensure this is arranged ahead of your journey if required, as you may be denied boarding without it.

Flying to London

The most convenient airports for London are:

  • Heathrow Airport (LHR) – closest and most convenient
  • Gatwick Airport (LGW) – a good alternative with many international flights

If possible, we recommend flying into Heathrow.

Getting from the Airport into London

There are several ways to travel from the airport to central London:

From Heathrow:

  • Heathrow Express – fastest option (approx. 15 minutes to Paddington)
  • Elizabeth Line – slightly slower but more affordable and very convenient
  • London Underground (Piccadilly Line) – most economical, but takes longer

Taxis and Ubers are also available from Heathrow, however they are not typically the quickest or most cost-effective option, particularly during busy periods.

From Gatwick:

  • Gatwick Express – direct train to Victoria Station
  • Thameslink / Southern trains – good alternatives depending on your destination

Getting Around London

London is very well connected and easy to navigate with Google Maps:

  • Uber operates widely across the city
  • Black cabs are readily available
  • The Underground (“Tube”)
  • Buses affordable and good way to see the sights

You can pay for most transport using a contactless card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay—no need to purchase tickets in advance.

See FAQ page on how to travel to our wedding venue.

Where to stay

While we do not have a hotel block reserved, there are many different accommodation options across London (including hotels and Airbnbs).

Areas close to Chelsea Old Church include Chelsea, South Kensington and Battersea, all of which may be within walking distance of the venue.

Other areas we particularly like in central London include Marylebone, Notting Hill and Belgravia, each just a few Underground stops from South Kensington, the closest station to the church.

What to do

There is something for everyone in London. If you would like particular recommendations, especially when it comes to Museums, please get in touch with us, and we will share our recommendations based on what you are looking for.
